MATCH REPORT | Valencia CF beaten 0-2 by Atletico Madrid  

Valencia CF’s game against Atletico Madrid at Mestalla ended with a 0-2 scoreline.

The game began with great intensity, with Valencia CF controlling possession. The first attack came from them, when Rioja drove into the penalty area and passed to Sadiq, but the defenders cleared the ball.

The visitors threatened to take the lead with a shot from Mendoza inside the penalty area, Dimitrievski making a great save with his feet. Moments later, the Macedonian goalkeeper had to intervene again to stop a shot from Molina, and on the next play, the Argentine full-back hit the post with a shot from over 30 metres out.

A few minutes later, Valencia CF regained possession and created several chances, though they couldn't convert them. Saravia led a good counterattack for our team, which Atletico had to stop with a blatant foul. Gayà kept pushing down the left flank, pushing forward to create options and relieve pressure on that side of the pitch.

However, before the interval, Atletico Madrid came close to scoring the first goal of the afternoon with a header from Almada that went just inches wide of Dimitrievski's goal. On the next attack, Ramazani hit the post with a powerful shot from outside the box after a good pass from Ugrinic.

Two minutes after the restart, Valencia CF threatened with a run down the right wing by Saravia. The Argentine crossed, and the rebound fell to Guido, who volleyed the ball over the crossbar.

Valencia CF looked to create danger on the counterattack during a period when Atletico Madrid made several forays into the Valencia CF penalty area. Hugo Duro and Diego López were brought on by Carlos Corberán, and the team came close again with a shot from Ramazani, but it went wide of goal.

After the 70 minute mark, Iker Luque scored the first goal of the match, with a low shot. A few minutes later, Raba came on for Valencia CF. Atletico Madrid scored their second, after a VAR review, in a play where Griezmann controlled the ball and passed to Cubo, who found the net on his debut.

Valencia CF came close to narrowing the lead with a combination between Sadiq and Hugo Duro from a Guido pass. In the next dangerous attack, Sadiq put the ball in the net, but the referee whistled for a foul by the Nigerian striker in the air on Musso. Dimitrievski then made a crucial save to deny Atletico Madrid a third goal.
